TELEMEDICINE VIA DOXY

Initial Phone Consultation

During this 5-10 minute phone call, I will ask basic questions about your concerns leading you to seek treatment and your history. Based upon this conversation, we will determine whether I offer the services and level of care necessary to meet your needs and optimize your health.

If we agree to an initial visit, I will set up an account and invite you to join my electronic health record’s Patient Portal. You will receive forms to complete prior to our initial visit. By investing a few minutes to complete the questions, I will be able to focus on areas of concern and maximize our time together.

Initial Office Visit

Our first few visits will be consultative, during which we will get to know one another and decide whether it makes sense to continue working together. In the first visit, we will discuss the concerns prompting treatment in greater detail. I will also conduct a thorough psychiatric and medical history, including reviewing the questionnaires you completed prior to the visit. Based upon the information you provide, I will offer my initial impressions about diagnosis and areas to target. I am a strong believer that we are partners in treatment and so will provide education and answer questions fully. I will review evidence-based treatment options, including therapy and/or medications. Together, we will create a customized treatment plan to get you on the road to better health and functioning. Plan to spend approximately 75-90 minutes in the initial visit.

Please note that I have a 48 hour (2 business days) cancellation policy, so any appointment changes need to be made accordingly. Because of the extended time allotted for initial visits, and in fairness to those waiting for appointments, I do not reschedule "no shows" for initial appointments.

Return Office Visit

Returning patients are scheduled for 25 or 50 minutes and we will discuss what is most appropriate for your situation after our initial visit. In a 25 minute visit, our focus will be on symptoms, medication efficacy and side effects, and next steps in treatment. Many patients prefer a longer 50-minute visit, even when the main focus of treatment is on medications, so that we have ample time to discuss other life events that may be contributing to symptoms and answer all questions. All psychotherapy visits are 50 minutes, and may also include medication management. I will ask you periodically to complete self-report forms to track our progress, which has been shown to speed and optimize recovery.
